It is about time the cannabis industry revamped its image. For so long we have been subjected to decent products with piss-poor design. I say decent, because until recently the usability of most products in this industry was not considered. Though with time things have improved. Here are ten products that I have to highlight for their innovation, design, and elevated branding.
MARY — The Mature Voice of Cannabis Culture is a biannual publication that seeks to provide an intellectual voice throughout the fight for marijuana legalization. The international team explores advancements within the industry, while eliminating the senseless propaganda that has smothered our society. In addition to their publication, MARY holds global events aimed at educating, enlightening, and cultivating the cannabis community. During this era it is so important for us, cannapreneurs, to have a media publication that is releasing high quality content.
Silverpeak Apothecary has been referred to as the Whole Foods of Marijuana. Steps away from Gucci and Prada, this downtown Aspen dispensary is warm and inviting. While its prices are still on par with the competition, it gives customers the taste of luxury.
AnnaBís is a line of fashionable odor blocking handbags and vape cases for stylish smokers. They believe that women are important members of the green rush, and that products on the market should reflect this. AnnaBís’ handbags are crafted of fine leathers and filled with secret compartments. Truly a smoker’s dream.
Aura is a modern smoking experience. A water pipe that has been designed with the user in mind. Every single touchpoint has been thought through. Because I know you’re reaching for your credit card right now, I’ll stop you. Aura is not yet on the market. They are seeking manufacturers, who can build Aura at the highest quality. Until then just keep refreshing their homepage.
Foria’s products are unique to say the least. Foria Relief is a suppository that relieves menstrual cramps, and Foria Pleasure is a sexual enhancement oil for women. There are rave reviews online for both products, but that’s not why Foria made this list. What sets it apart from the rest is the packaging. Simple, elegant, and superbly feminine. Call me a design junky, but I would love to have that bottle on my vanity.
The Cannador — How many Tupperware containers and plastic bags of bud do you have laying around? If you’re not a regular smoker you may not take issue with dry weed. Hell, you may not notice. To a more seasoned connoisseur the Cannador is a dream come true. Your stash stays fresh at a constant rate of 65% RH, a humidity that will even revive dry flowers. Its gorgeous exterior and odor tight interior makes it the perfect accessory for those who value discretion.
Leira Cannagars are the beginning of a new era for cannabis. The ritzy lifestyle brands that emerged from the cigar and alcohol industries could easily spawn from this creation. Set to launch in Washington on 4/20, these handmade beauties will have a price point between $200–$300. With a burn time of roughly 6 hours, Leira really is the definition of luxury.
Bud and Breakfast is the AirBnB of the cannabis world. Showcasing hotels and rentals that allow visitors to toke indoors. For example, this gorgeous listing in Ibiza, Spain. While it will cost you a pretty penny ($860) per night, it will save you the 300€+ you’ll pay in fines if you’re caught smoking in the streets. Bud and Breakfast has lodging all over the world to ensure that your next vacation won’t be cannabis free.
KushKards, the Hallmark of weed, supplies beautifully designed cards that are full of wit for almost any occasion. The greetings are accompanied by a pack of matches. All you need to do is supply the pre-rolled joint for your recipient. It’s just too easy.
Marley Natural has a huge name to live up to; with the king of cannabis branded on every item, there is a bit of pressure. This first collection though is astounding. These cannabis — I don’t event want to call them accessories, the definition isn’t classy enough — accoutrements are game-changing for the industry. The tacky headshop commodities will become a thing of the past. The mélange of wood and glass along with the ability to disassemble each piece for an easy clean up makes Marley Natural an industry front-runner.
These products all prove one thing — the industry is changing, rapidly. The real question is will you be involved or will you be watching from the sidelines.
