My strategy for Elite Daily
Hey Guys! So throughout my semester I have been following a website called Elite Daily.
Elite Daily calls themselves the “Voice of Generation Y”. They are a content platform made to appeal to millenials by reporting on trending topics and big issues — ranging anywhere from politics to dating.
Elite Daily has over 5k contributors, which help distribute content for their website.
For my social media class, I have been asked to design a social media strategy for Elite Daily. A social media strategy outlines the basic goals and day to day expectations of how a newsroom distributes content on their social media accounts. The goal of a social media strategy is to have a clear and distinct mechanism to finding news, delivering news, as well as engaging and growing a newsrooms audience.
My Social Media Strategy for Elite Daily:
Elite Daily has accounts with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Youtube.
Goals.
Promote articles and content.
Social media should be used as a channel to further engage those with Elite Daily.
Posts on social media websites should be clear that they come from Elite Daily.
2. Engage the audience.
Encourage readers to start a conversation by posting socially engaging content.
Promote Elite Daily’s community by encouraging readers to take action.
Provide regular feedback to community members.
3. Enhance Content.
Create posts for high engagement rates.
Use social media for both reporting and gathering information.
Track trends to identify emerging stories.
4. Reinforce marketing efforts.
Use social media platforms as a way to promote content.
Identify target audience and market towards them.
5. Satisfy the reader.
Respond and identify reader’s concerns.
Provide the reader with content they are interested in.
Roles and Responsibilities.
Elite Daily will have a social media team made up of the following positions:
Senior Social Media Strategist — The final say in all social media content. This position will be responsible for directing traffic back to Elite Daily’s website as well as increasing the number of repeated visitors back to the website. Works closely with editorial and production staff to produce the best content via social media.
Social Media Manager — Responsible for daily posts on all social media accounts as well as providing feedback. This position must also be familiar with all the latest internet trends as well work closely with editorial and production staff to produce the best content via social media.
Social Media Analysis — Checks Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, YouTube, Instagram, Vine, Google+, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Snapchat, Tumblr daily to identify trending topics. This position is also responsible for identifying Elite Daily’s most popular articles and keeping track of engagement such as likes and comments.
Regular Staff — All editorial and production teams are responsible for identifying trending material and gathering content. Staff are not required to have their own social media accounts.
Overall, I believe Elite Daily already has a strong social media presence and has done a great job at creating a community of readers who are socially engaged with their content. Elite Daily is strictly an online platform, which means their social media presence is important.
